Synopsis
Crime Psychology is an important area of applied psychology and s taught in the second year of the Buckingham degree programme. The aim of the course is to introduce to students psychological theories of criminal behaviour and explore the latest research into crime and criminal behaviour. Seminar classes consider issues such as the use f psychological profiles, the nature of sociopathy and assessing the reliability of eyewitness testimonies. Topic areas covered include: (I) Psychological theories of criminal behaviour; (II) Offender and geographic profiling; (III) The psychopath Personality; (iv) Sex Crimes; (V) Violent Crime; (Vi) Mental Health and Criminal behaviour; (Vii) Eyewitness testimony; (viii) Psychological factors in juvenile delinquency.
