A nation can, therefore, be strong and prosperous only when all villages are freed from backwardness and poverty. The Government of India is committed to the cause of bringing about rapid and sustainable development in rural areas. It is hoped, the present venture –Rural development in India –would meet a long-left need of the researchers and the alike.
