Synopsis
The book is the first publication on plant resources of the Uttar Pradesh State of India. It is based on survey and exploration work conducted by the author and scrutiny of the literature since 1980. It provides an updated account of the physiography, rivers, lake soils, minerals, population, forest, biodiversity, earlier work and the plant resources in particular. The bibliography provides up to date references of the work done on the floristic diversity of the state. The conservation strategies for protection of the biodiversity of the state has also been discussed and an updated list of National Park and wildlife Sanctuaries is provided. Alphabetical list of vernacular/popular names and their botanical name, is a special feature of this book. Exotic species introduced in the state have also been enumerated. Detailed tabulated account of the medicinal and other useful plants, wetland-flora, and floral calendar has been given in appendices. It will be a very useful handbook for foresters, teachers horticulturists, researchers, students and all other people loving nature and interested in knowing about the natural resources.
