The directions of development of education thus have been perennially influenced by the, economic, political and social thought in the every field there have been long period of stagnation and sudden tumultuous changes. These change have influenced the course of development of educational thought also. It is still a matter of argument, whether Education is an independent discipline and has a theory and practice of its own, But it is certain that in the long course of history education had been successful in developing its tools of analysis and areas of inquiry which could be attributed solely to the discipline of education. It hoped that the present collection will go a long way on fulfilling the long felt need for researchers, educational planners and the general readers alike to consult the material on educational thought in a single collection.
