Synopsis Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2001, the book "Democracy-a-failure, Shefocracy-the solution for human welfare" by Dr. Rabin Mukherjee, will revolutionize human thoughts of all countries now and for future centuries. Rabin N. Mukherjee argues that democracy, the accepted form of governance in most countries, has failed. Mukherjee’s argument cites the widespread disenchantment with party politics, political corruption, and governmental instability, as causes of democracy’s failure. The solution to these problems, he argues, is a self-contrived, alternative political philosophy called "Shefocracy.", which differs from democracy only in the nature of the elections. The new philosophy will develop an apolitical system, which will make the availability of basic necessities of life like food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare the prime objectives. Under the proposed system, it will also be easy for all men to enter the arena of state matters, and to ensure the interest of the country. The rein of the country will go from the hands of few biased and selfish politicians to non-biased people of all walks of life, eradicating corruption from government. While the book offers an altogether new politico-economic philosophy with the main idea to ameliorate the distress of common man primarily for developing countries, the concept holds good for the developed countries also. 'Shefocracy’ is a better democracy than democracy itself and stands for the basic necessities of life like ‘S’ for (Shelter) ‘H’ for (Health care) ‘E’ for (Educating) ‘FO’ for (Food) ‘C’ for (Clothing) which are ensured. 'Shefocracy’ not only ensures formation of a time-bound Government which will last for a pre-stipulated term, the government can never lose its majority during the term and hence a stable government can work for people’s needs more peacefully. 'Corruption – an universal disease has been totally eliminated in the new concept of ‘Shefocracy’. This has been done by simple modifications in constitution of the country and making judiciary and legislature truly and absolutely independent (both financially and constitutionally). The book presents the biggest economic invention of all time i.e. "Equivalent Evaluation Technique" to rationalize economic order between Nations by a new evaluation technique of Gross Domestic product. This will dispel the time-old notion of supremacy of one or two currencies by arbitrariness in evaluating developing and developed nations.
