Consolidating Peace in Jammu and Kashmir

Dipankar Banerjee (Editor) Mallika Joseph (Editor)
Synopsis The general situation in Jammu and Kashmir has vastly improved in the recent years. More than before, it is apparent today that security is multidimensional and whether it is economy, media, culture or migration, these cannot be compartmentalized and kept away from the all encompassing question of security. Though the security situation has vastly improved, there is more to be done. And more to be said about the impact of this improved situation on the peace process that is currently taking place on two axes; the New Delhi Islamabad and the New Delhi Srinagar axes. While Indo-Pak discussions have been very quite and conducted mainly through back channels, the other is in the full light of day and it is a subject of all the contrary pulls of a part of the latter approach with full participation of the rich array of civil society in Srinagar.
