Social change is inevitable in a living civilization. This is an important aspect of the process of the growth of Indian social system where many lawyers of social groups and sub-groups have been living together for centuries. The present monograph makes a study of some perceptive changes in the social position of the most oppressed class perceived by Mulk Raj Anand, the celebrated Anglo Indian writer of the twentieth century. The position of a number of groups of the scheduled castes is variously described in his novels and stories and a number of practical changes have been suggested and described in their occupations. Some new ways and means have also been stated to improve their lot. It is full of socio economic awakening and activities found in the lowest rung of social groups of Indian Society. The present book basically deals with the rise of untouchables during the later part of the twentieth century.
