Synopsis It is a matter of great satisfaction and joy to all the students, admirers and friends of Professor Satya Ranjan Banerjee for bringing out the Professor Satya Ranjan Banerjee Felicitation Volume in the academic world.  The students, friends and well-wishers of Professor Banerjee cherished a long desire in their mind to bring out such a volume to felicitate him in a suitable manner.  It is, undoubtedly, a matter of pride for me that I have been entrusted with the noble duty to perform the work as General Editor of this volume.  The academic tradition of India is known as Guru-Sisya-parampara.  Professor Banerjee acquired knowledge from his predecessors, the stalwarts like Professor Suniti Kumar Chatterji, Professor Prabhat Kumar Mukherjee, Professor Kshistish Chandra Chatterjee, Professor Sukumar Sen and so on, and blending his own wisdom with them he transmitted them to the next generation.  Professor Banerjee has devoted his whole life to the cause of the development of Indological studies.  Besides his over-specialised field in Grammar and Linguistics, he has contributed to a great extent to Prakrit and Pali language and literature.  Jainism, a very rarely recognized and identified subject, he always been a very adorable subject of interest to him...
