The Foundation of Civilisation: Ideas and Ideals

S. Radhakrishnan (Author)
Synopsis Dr Radhakrishnan is immensely readable for reasons more than one. He spells out India's ancient wisdom in modern idiom. The other-worldly philosophy and mundane science find a unique synthesizer in him. He does not sermonize, but urges the readers to pursue, discover and see truth face to face. His words enlighten the path towards a rational, balanced and meaningful life for one and all. His message focuses on the youth, in universities and colleges, help dispel the clouds of doubt and cynicism enveloping the academic world. He is able to revive the eternal values in the present context and re-establish the foundation of enduring human civilization. The essays published in the book are largely based on Dr Radhakrishnan's speeches to the university audiences, specially the students, in pre-independent India. Yet these do not red dated, and remain meaningful even today.
