Library Administration and Staff Training
Synopsis
The recruitment policy of a library is planned considering the nature of its services. Thus, the recruitment policy of a public library differs from a school or college or University library or from any special and research library. Hence the recruitment of the library staff should be made by certain tests like aptitude test, personality test, interest test, intelligence test, etc. After appointment, the library needs to ensure that new staffs are trained in their duties and that other staff improve their activities, so that they become more efficient and may qualify for promotion. Training may be imparted through apprentice system; in-service training; under study method; study tour; extension lectures, workshops, refresher course, seminars, conferences and meetings. This book covers highly useful information organised in chapters namely-library administration and staff training; training and leadership; planning and motivation; coordination and decision-making; staff supervision and effective librarianship etc.
