Synopsis We need to understand the world to find out who we are and what our destiny is.  This is because our story is situated within the narrative of creation.  Religious cosmologies have been attempts to provide the broad conceptual framework needed to define ourselves, our place in the world and our destiny.  They shape and mirror human culture.  The intellectual mapping of these conceptions plays an important role in capturing the spirit of various cultures.  Knowledge of the way various religio-cultural groups have defined themselves in relation to their understanding of the world is a powerful means of promoting understanding among cultures and building social and political harmony.  Religious Cosmologies is an attempt to do such a mapping.  It seeks to assemble under one title the various cosmological conceptions of different religious traditions with the hope that the knowledge it provides could be helpful in promoting better understanding among peoples.
