Synopsis
The book Biodiversity and Environmental Management is a collection of selected research articles presented in an international seminar. Chapter 1-5 describe diversity of entomo-fauna with special reference to lepidoptera, hemiptera and coleopteran from Uttarakhand, J&K and Gujarat. Chapter 6 to 12 are devoted to various aspects of aquatic biodiversity with special reference to plankton, rotifers, shell fishes, freshwater fishes their management and physical integrity of the hill streams, from different parts of the country. The insect pest of fruits and crops along with their management are described in chapter 13-14. Chapter 15-17 describe variations in bird habitats, their status and causes of vanishing of vultures. Diversity of economically and medicinally important forest and riparian flora from Uttarakhand and related management has been included in chapter 18,20 and 21. Species richness of earthworms from Kumaun Himalayan region is the subject of chapter 19, while chapter 22 describes the haematological parameters of a freshwater fish.
