Synopsis
Though the title of the book "Psychology of Education" seems to be traditional in outlook but it is an emerging and important field of research and application in education. Liberalization, Privatization, Globalization (LPG) have significantly affected the basic concepts of education and there is an increasing trend to include advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to disseminate the knowledge among the students. Although, ICT has potential to bring revolution in the world of learning yet it is incomplete without involving the psychological principles. Therefore, there is a need to understand the scope of education with an eye to psychology. This book is a compilation of 16 articles classified into three sections. First section consisting of six articles deals with the influence of schooling on behaviour patterns of students and role of other school functionaries. There are five articles in second section of the book mainly dealing with motivation and learning issues in psychology of education. The third and last section comprises of five articles where future challenges have been discussed and high-lighted with possible remedies. The editors are of the view that the concept and material shared in this book will prove helpful in resolving many problems relating to Psychology of Education by providing insight to the readers.
