Case Studies on Leadership: Being Numero Uno

Menaka Rao (Author) Sanghamitra Bhattacharya (Author)
Synopsis Leadership plays a crucial role in the growth of an organization. When people decide to become leaders, they concentrate on what they are in terms of personality and character, what they know about the tasks and human nature and what they do, like implementing, motivating and providing direction. These skills are learnt. What makes a person want to follow a leader? - Trust and confidence. Leaders of organisations that have a high level of employee satisfaction are the ones who are followed. Communication which is effective helps leaders in winning not only the employees' trust and confidence but the organisation's as well. This is done through three main ways. The first, through helping employees understand the company's overall business strategy; then, by helping employees understand how they contribute to achieving key business objectives; and lastly, by sharing information with employees on both how the company is doing and how an employee's own division is doing - relative to strategic business objectives. It is crucial that the leader communicates a vision of where the organisation needs to go. This case book has a collection of case studies on various leadership skills and strategies which are different and unique. Each of the leaders described in the book has carved a path for himself/herself by setting many times a new path and not following the trodden path, to set himself/herself apart.
