Subhas Bose and Gandhi: A Conflict in Ideology
Synopsis
The book "Subhas and Gandhi : A Conflict in Ideology'. The theme has been covered in fourteen chapters with a comprehensive index. Undoubtedly the role of Subhas Bose is most unique in the annals of our sub-continent. As a young man he understood the implications of a colonial rule and since then he made up his mind to launch an Anti-Raj Satyagraha in order to win Swaraj. He did not like to be a civil servant to serve under the Raj. He therefore submitted his resignation and after meeting Mahatma Gandhi and C.R. Das, he chose the latter as his mentor. Soon he got himself deeply involved in the politics of Bengal and chose a different political path soon after the Lahore Congress in 1929. The theme has deep bearing on his career in a comprehensive way. A glimpse of Indian politics including Muslim politics has been depicted in two chapters. The ideology of Nehru as Congress President at the Lahore Session is quite unique as he gave vent his feelings in favour of complete independence.
