Synopsis Over thousands of years of national building and defense, the Indian people have made untold sacrifices to gain the fundamental human rights, namely the right to live in independence and freedom, the right to food, clothing, housing, education and dignity. All the nations on the earth are equal from birth, all the nations have a right to live, to be happy and free. It is the Indian policy to respect and protect human rights. The state has also done its utmost to ensure the realization of human rights through the building and constant improvement of the legal system and the undertaking of concrete measures aimed at promoting economic, social and cultural development so that every citizen can enjoy a better life both materially and spiritually in an equal, democratic and civilized society. To help the world better understand the Indian tradition in protecting and promoting human rights and the current human rights implementation in India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
