P.K. Bhowmick

Probodh K. Bhowmick (b-1926) is one of the leading figures in Anthropology, particularly is the realm of action anthropology interpreting rural problems and development. He is a retired Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Science in the university of Calcutta. He had been a visiting Professor of Anthropology in S.V. University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. He actively participated in the sessions of world congress of Applied Anthropology in Amsterdam, Edinburg, Italy and W. Germany. Professor Bhowmick contributed over three hundred articles to learned journals and authored good Number of book, in English and Bengali.
