Synopsis
This book is an outcome of the research papers presented in the National Seminar on "Gender Justice and Human Rights: Realities and Challenges" organized with the funding support by UGC. New Delhi in the department of sociology, Gandhigram Rural University, Tamil Nadu. The focused issues debated in the seminar were gender issues in the family. Domestic violence, atrocities against women, women in unorganised sector, human rights and social justice, human rights and HIV/AIDS, female feticide/infanticide, child rights and child abuse within the overall framework of gender justice and human rights. The paper included in this book make a comprehensive analysis of the focused insights listed above and explore new insights towards integrating human rights in every sphere of social life. The suggestions/recommendations made in most of the papers are expected to influence social development policies and programmes in the context of challenge of human rights in the Indian context. This book is organized in 21 chapters, each chapter is precise and focused on the topic of analysis within the broad framework of gender justice and human rights. This book is to meet the needs of academics, research scholars, students pursuing subjects like sociology, social work, history, political science, rural development anthropology, etc. Besides these, it is also expected to assist the CBOs, GOs and NGOs involved in social intervention and rural development activities with special reference to empowerment of marginalized communities.
