Synopsis Dr. Kamal Shivkumar, the author of this interesting and well written book, has rendered yeoman service to the intellectual community of India, by picking up the task of expounding the philosophy of Advaita as narrated and discussed in the works of Niscaldas. She has focused on one of the main works of Niscaldas, viz Vrtti-Prabhakar, while giving a brief account of the contents of another seminal work of the same author, viz. Vicar-Sagar. There are indeed a large number of scholars and thinkers, in the Indian spiritual domain, who have devoted their entire life in the pursuit of True knowledge and who have endeavoured to disseminate their insights among a large number of inquisitive disciples. However, it is unfortunate that awareness about such great many luminaries of the spiritual world is often not available among the scholars and the students alike. This insightful treatise on the contributions of Niscaldas eminently fills up this gap in knowledge.
