Green Revolution is come what a euphonic characterisation, but a economy emerging from a long drak tunnel and seeing the first ray of hope may not be denied an occasional euphonia. Critics have a legitimate duty to draw attention to the limitations and drawbacks of the phenomenon but the manner in which they struck it with hammer and tongs, in an uneasy company of same scholars, did not present a pleasant spectacle. The green revolution, picturised, the heralding of a phase of modernising of Indian agriculture which showed up in the rapid growth in the use of modern inputs. Technology has yet to perform a more challenging task for gradation inputs and environmental protective, leads are being developed in all these areas but their reach is still limited. What is needed, for biggerstrides in an inter-disciplinary approach, closed collaboration with social scientists who can assess the economic & social consequences of technological innovation, dialogue with grassroot workers and people participation.
