Synopsis
The Book Deals with the concept, patterns, causes and consequence of internal migration. It studies structure of social-economic traits of various types of migrants categorized on the basis of distance, community of origin and destination, duration and migration defining boundaries and their comparison with non-migrants. The causal analysis of migration has also been made at micro-level on the above mentioned basis. Apart from this, an analysis of the impact of migration in depth, on agricultural in rural areas and the availability of housing and other amenities in urban areas has also been made. The study is based on the primary data generated in two comprehensive surveys by direct questionnaire to the respondents in shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The Rural Survey comprises 2220 household in 106 villages, and the urban survey, which followed immediately, comprises 873 household in 11 towns. It is hoped that the present book completed in a highly useful for the students, teachers and researches involved in various disciplines of social science especially Geography, Demography, Sociology, Economics, History and Political Science.
