Synopsis Sri Hastigiri Mahatmyam, one of the Desikaprabandhas, is a Rahasya literature to be taught and learnt from an able acarya, by an earnest disciple.  It is an established truth that Lord takes His incarnation choosing His own form and selects His own  abode to His taste and stays permanently, to bless the people with their materialistic requirements and finally shows the way for liberation, destroying all the sins of people by His compassion.

There are several editions of the Hastigiri Mahatmyam connected with the sthalapurana of Kanci with commentaries emphasizing on the philosophical aspects, which are now available.  After a thorough study of the works of the author, one comes to know that there are certain peculiar and unique aspects in the works of Vedantadesika which have not been studied so far.  Hence an honest attempt has been made in this book, to bring to light, the significant aspects of Vedantadesika’s Hastigiri Mahatmyam.
