Genera of Indian Butterflies
The present book comprises all relevant particulars of butterfly genera occurring in India, Pakistan (including Indian areas in its occupation), Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Following informations are provided for each genus, in a compact way : Original reference where the genus was proposed; it subsequent synonyms, if; any Common Names applied to it; its Type species; Species occuring in the Indian region; Endangered species/ sbspecies for conservation status; Food plants of the larvae of species in that genus (if known); and brief account of Distributional range and records of occurrence in the region and beyond. Selected taxonomic studies on the genus have been indicated in sporadic cases. A total of 427 genera are reported.
Family Hesperiidae has been included in the present book, in the style of other families, for the first time. account of families Satyridae and Nymphalide have been revised. References cited in the end, have been given in brief (without title of papers). An alphabetical index of all valid generic names, showing the page number in this book, has been given in the end.
