About the authors

N Sharma

Dr. Neelesh Sharma is graduated in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry in 2001 from the College of Veterinary Science, MHow (J.N.K.V.V., Jabalpur), Madhya Pradesh, India and post-graduated in Veterinary Medicine from College of Veterinary Science, Anjora, Durg (I.G.K.V.V., Raipur), Chhatisgarh, India.  He has the specialization on production disease in dairy animals.  He has more than 8 years experience in teaching research and extension.  Dr. Sharma started his professional career as Research Fellow at Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jammu and later he joined as Assistant Professor in September, 2005, in the same faculty.  He is recipient of The Bronze Standard International Award by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.  He has also received the best paper award by Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Science (IAAVS), India and appreciation award from RIAM, Delhi.  Dr. Sharma was a collaborating scientist in two National and one International (Angila Ruskin University, Cambridge, England) research projects.  He has published more than 70 original research papers, research reviews, clinical articles authored a practical manual of Veterinary science, and contributed 9 chapters in books.  He is a member of various scientific societies.  He has served as reviewer and technical editor of International Journal of Dairy Science, Research Journal of Veterinary Sciences, Asian Journal of Animal Sciences, Asian Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances, Vet Scan and regional editor of Pakistan Journal of Life & Social Sciences.  At present he is working as Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary Clinical Medicine & Jurisprudence, F.V.Sc & A.H., SKUAST-J, R.S. Pura, Jammu, India.

N K Singh

Dr. Naresh Kumar Singh received his Bachelor degree in Veterinary Sciences in 1998 and his undergraduate study was funded through the merit scholarship from Ministry of Defence, India.  He accomplished his postgraduation on animal pain management in 2000 with ICAR-JRF from I.V.R.I., Izatnagar, India.  Subsequently, he pursued his Ph.D. from I.V.R.I. (2001-2005) with I.C.A.R.-SRF, India.  During Ph.D. his research focus was on cartilage repair with cultured chondrocytes/mesenchymal stem cells along various growth factors and his work was recongnised by national (ISVS-India) and International (ICRS, USA) Societies.  Dr. Singh worked on stem cells transdifferentiation and proteomics during his postdoctoral research (PDF) at NLRI, Suwon (2005-2007) and his work was recognized and received excellent presentation award in the year 2006 at XIIth International Animal Science Congress (AAAP) held at Bexco, Busan , Republic of Korea.  Dr Singh received Best Researcher Award for the year 2006-2007 from NLRI, South Korea.  He has worked as Assistant Professor in the Division of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, SKUAST-J, Jammu, India for more than eight years (2001-2010).  Dr. Singh has also been working in collaboration with various researchers around the globe on challenging issues pertaining to animal health. He has published four books, contributed three chapters, edited one book (in press) and published more than thirty five research papers in the national and international peer reviewed journals.  Dr. Singh, is member of editorial boards of few international and national journals of repute.  Dr. Singh is presently working as faculty in the Department of Animal Biotechnology, College of Animal Life Sciences, KNU, Chuncheon, Republic of Korea.

G Bacic

Dr. Goran Bacic received his Bachelor degree in Veterinary Sciences in 1990 at Veterinary College, Zagreb University, Croatia.  He accomplished his postgraduation study in 194 and Ph.D. in 1999.  Dr.  Bacic spent year 2001 at Veterinary College, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA for specialization in Herd Health and Production Management.  Dr. Bacic participated in numerous visiting veterinarian programs at Large Animal Hospital Veterinary College Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA.

Dr. Bacic has experience of various research and teaching posts since 1994.  Together with Assistant Professor Tugomir Karadjole and Teaching Assistant Nino Macesic, Dr. Bacic was a founder of Laparoscopic Team for Small Animal Gynecology Surgery at the Clinic for Reproduction and Theriogenology.  He became a Professor at the Clinic for Reproduction and Therigenology and Ambulatory Service with Herd Health Management, Veterinary College University of Zagreb in 2007 and then became a Head of the Ambulatory and Herd Health Department in 2009.

Dr. Bacic has published more than 80 international and domestic papers, wrote one university text book “Diagnostic and treatment of mastitis in cows”, participated in some chapters in numerous domestic and foreign Conferences.  He is a member of AABP, ESDAR and Croatian Veterinary Society and reviewer in Journal Croatian Veterinary Archive.  Dr. Bacic was successful mentor in numerous student graduate thesis and in a few M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis.  Dr. Bacic participated as invited lecturer in USAID – CROATIA training program “Best Milking Farm Practices” together with international expert Dr. Arun Phatak from UC Davis, California.
