This book is infact an outline of the research project of Asian Institute of Human Science and Development, Lucknow, which was carried out between February 2- September 15, 2008. But the issues unraveled in the book are peraining to the syllabi of graduate and postgraduate students studying in the Indian and Foreign Universities.
Initially, it throws light on the general concepts of physical growth and development highlining the interplays of heredity and environment when an individual starts his Journey from fetuss to the stage of maturity. Physical sign of adolescence, nutritional requirements for normal growth, manifestations of anomalies etc. are discussed at length. The methods of studying growth in a population, ways of data collection, analysis and interpretation are amply illustrated. It is noted at end in view of anthropometric measurements that the pattern of physical growth generally and of adolescents particularly are heavily effected by the environmental domains like, surroundings, socio economy, parental care, education etc. The physique of adolescents changes by the general concept of Class not by the Caste in Urban adolscents of Lucknow city which is revealed by the curves and coefficients of absolute measurements. Thus, on the whole, the book is a new intake which encompasses the specific interest of students, researchers, and teachers who belongs to the disciplines viz.
