An Envoy Looks Back: A Memoir

K H Patel (Author)
Synopsis An Envoy Looks by former Indian diplomats is a book which essentially talks about the life of a man business town called Ujha in North Gujarat to become the Ambassador to several countries. Apart from dealing with the various offices he held during his tenure in the Ministry of External Affairs, he recounts personal experiences during his postings in New York, Reunion Island (France), Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, as well as his assignment in Geneva during a boundary dispute case with Pakistan.

He also dissects India's foreign policy, its involvement in the United Nations, its ties with its immediate neighbours Pakistan and China, and Africa. The chapter on Rwanda not only talks about the genocide as the author saw it during his concurrent charge in the country along with Uganda, but also tells how this civil war-ravaged nation is now rebuilding itself and his current role in it.
