Dr. V A Sapre, a graduate from Jabalpur Veterinary College, Served in Maharashtra as Officer-In-Charge Hospitals, in Diseases Investigation Section and in various capacities for nearly 14 years after which he was deputed for higher studies, and he obtained M.V.Sc. degree in Medicine with a certificate of "Honour"and was awarded University Gold Medal for having secured the highest position amongst post graduate students of J.N.K.V.V., and subsequently was awarded Ph.D. in 1974. Since then he has worked in Medicine Department at Nagpur veterinary College from where he retired as professor and head of Department. Due to excellent scholastic carreer and the background of 14 years of field experience Dr Sapre was a very successful and a popular teacher . He handled several research projects and conducted projects in herbal and Homoepathic medicines and published over 50 research papers, guided number of M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. students He was awarded the prestigious Ramlal Agarwal Gold medal in I.S.V.M. convention in 1998. This Handbook first conceived in 1977 was based on his overall & varied experience and was exceptionally well received by veterinary graduates and the students all over the country as a most practical approach for diagnosis and treatment and is in possession of almost every veterinarian. This sixteenth edition is co-authored by Dr N.P. Dakshinkar, a competent Clinician and a colleague, whose experiences would be most valuable.
