Plants are the basis of our existence and properity. We get food, medicine, paper, wood-made furniture etc. from plants in this sense, the study of botany is very useful to all human beings. The scope of biology and its branches are spreading like never before. Indian students are making their presence felt in foreign universities and are passing out with flying colours. The green revolution was a dramatic increase in agricultural yields that occurred in the 1950s through 1960s. The green revolution was based on many scientific improvements in plant science, including the genetic improvements of many plants, improved irrigation, more efficeint machinery, new fertilizers, and pest-controls. It increased plants disease-resistance, improved their hardiness, and increased their productivity especially of rice, wheat and corn. Biology is a general term used in a very broad field of study. In all its manifestations, biology is one of the major scientific areas of public interest at the beginnineg of second decade of new millenium.
