English poetry in India carries an enormous strength of Indian heritage and culture with genuine Vedic equanimity. Stateliness and a tremendously secular outlook. In evaluating the aptitude of English writing in India during days of growth, one finds a few shades of impact of sensibility not precisely belonging to the native soil. Obviously, nature and subjects of contemporary consciousness with a scrupulous avoidance of controversial social and political aspects constituted the poetry of that period but after sometime, awakening to nationalistic spirit influenced creative minds and it witnessed a far-reaching transformation in temper, attitude, emotions and thoughts. Psychological and intellectual horizons expanded to encompass a universality of thought. The poetic scenario now is an amazing experience when one goes through a huge poetic output. There may be noticeable shortcomings in art and craft of poetry in a few areas but if surveyed in totality, one observes a rich crop of psychological, philosophical and universal anxieties of English's poets in India. It is time for the great academicians and educationists of India to view English poetry in India from an Indian point of view without prejudice. It will be a journey to ancient Indian culture and heritage, which stands tall with a fundamentally secular approach to life.
