Bio-Resources Management in India
Biological Resources of a huge variety are available to the mankind since his origin and man has been using them for various purposes and growing them traditionally. He has increased their production many folds due to improved technologies. However, the exploding human population is creating severe crisis of several bio-resources. It is only the wise and planned management of these bio-resources, which may lead to their un-interrupted supply.
Articles in this book are focused deeply on the management of different bioresources, viz. food crops, forests, fodder, non-timber-forest-produce, medicinal plants, weeds and microbes etc. Some of them were presented in a National Seminar organized at the Government Girls Post Graduate Autonomous College at Sagar during 26-27 March 2011, but others have been written specially for this volume. Most papers are broad-based monographs but some are specific case studies, viz. cultivation and management of Pan (Piper betle) leaves, and scientific harvesting of Achar (Buchanania lanzan) fruits for sustainable management. Thus t,he book becomes very useful for Policy makers, Planners, Administrators, Researchers, Teachers and Students.
