Ted Hughes: An Ecocritical Study
The present work is an earnest endeavour to re-examine the poetics of Ted Hughes in the general mode of eco critical philosophy centred in the dynamics and dialectics of man's relationship with nature in the contemporary forms of life. His poetry unhesitatingly reflects the dilemma in the form of a congruence of environmental themes and apocalyptic rhetoric and underlines the need for fundamental and transformational change in humankind's currently dysfunctional relationship with the natural environment at spiritual cognitive and behavioural level. In an attempt to make peace with the planet which humankind has abused Ted Hughes first demolishes the the established patterns of based on sacred pillars of Apollonian light of secular rationality and then embarks upon a ritualistic pattern of regeneration promised by nature centric Oriental traditions to release a holistic vision which sees man as part of an organic universe living best by acknowledging its wonder and rejecting the temptation to force his will upon it.
