Agriculture sector is at the crossroads economically, environmentally, socially and technologically. Shrinking land base and rampant unemployment are the marked features of our rural areas. There is need to commercialize and diversify Indian Agriculture to create agro-based employment opportunities in such a way that one can generate more income per unit of area. With liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation, the whole world has come to our local markets where farmers and their produce have to compete with multinationals in terms of quality and price. In this scenario entrepreneurship development can prove to be a gainful employment opportunity for our educated youth. Entrepreneurs are not born but can be developed through appropriate education skills development and guidance. The present book "Entrepreneurship Development in Agriculture" is aimed at providing the conceptual orientation of entrepreneurship and elaborating the three phases of entrepreneurship development viz. Entrepreneurial stimulation enterprise launching and enterprise sustenance. Besides these two more section agro enterprise options and designing trading for entrepreneurship development are providing the details of various technological options to take up as agro enterprise and various training modules for inculcating entrepreneurial spirit. The book is an outcome of document the experiences generated at Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) which pioneered the efforts in this direction by establishing Entrepreneurship development Unit in 1995 in the Division of Agricultural Extension.
