Synopsis Bhagavad-Gita - the song celestial, literally meaning song in praise of the Lord, is an episode of the famous Indian epic the Mahabharata. The episode runs into seven hundred verses. An attempt has been made in this book to discuss and explain the implications of certain parts of the Bhagavad-Gita insofar as they affect the daily life of a modern man. It does not deal with an imaginary or an ideal situation but with man’s real life. It recognizes that man is caught up in a whirlpool of conflicting values and goals and tries to resolve and reconcile them. The book explores various dimensions off man’s life-as an individual, as a family member, as a social being and as a businessman as well. The book selects only a few chapters and verses and brings out the principal teachings of the Gita which are of direct relevance in the context of modern life. The book caters well to the scientific temperament of the reader. It is definitely not a religious dose but a logical argument based on cause and effect analysis of the important teachings of the Gita. The teachings of the Gita bring peace, composure and happiness to man and at the very least he would certainly be better equipped to cope without stress with various situations he encounters.
