Synopsis

In this book we find many a similarities between the Jataka stories and the Ramayana. The author claims that the former are older than the latter. The author's interpretations of the marriage between Rama and Sita and also the story of abduction of Sita by Ravana are unique which raise many questions. These question were first raised in 1920 and are still to be resolved.

About the author

Dinesh Chandra Sen

Dineshchandra Sen (1866-1939) - born in Manikganj, now in Bangladesh, was instrumental in salvaging lost works of Bengali folk music and folk literature. When he was a professor in the Calcutta University he was appointed to compiled and edit the collected Ballads from different parts of Bengal. The British Government had adorned him with the 'Rai Bahadur' title in 1921 and with D.Litt by the Calcutta University in recognition of pioneering work in this field. His publications include Mymensingh Geetika, Eastern Bengal Ballads - Vols. 1-4, Bengali Ramayan, Chaitanya and his Age and so on.
