This is a collection of papers that were presented at a national seminar. The papers study assessment of available resources, practice of sustainable development especially importance of traditional knowledge systems and sustainable land use planning and development. They take up impact of population growth on forest resources with a case study of Jaipalguri district. They discuss aspects of eco-tourism, water pollution with a case study of Kolkata Metropolitan city and use of solar energy to decrease the dependence on fossil fuels and pollution which is a threat to biodiversity.
