This book contains complete data on ethno-medico botanical studies of the "Nishi" and the "Apatani" the most acclaimed aboriginees inhabiting the erstwhile Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. A detailed account of Subansiri district has been provided with its location and physiography, the river system, the geology and soil, the climate which have a great impact on floristic composition and habitation of aboriginees. Authentic information on customs and culture, food habits of the Nishis and the Apatanis have been dealt with elaborately. As many as 154 species of plants have been recorded which include plants reported elsewhere under various titles, claimed to have curative capabilities and in common use in ethno-medicine. These species belong to: Fungi (1); Pteridophytes (7); Gymnosperm (1) and Agniosperms (145) are enumerated alphabetically with latest taxonomic treatment, vernacular names; occurrence, ecological adaptation; early reference of their reported distribution in published floras, monographs and journals; local utilisation in ethnomedicine and established reports for comparison to verify authenticity. Usage in ethnomedicine of the enumerated species has been categorised depending on their relative application as regards to various ailments, diseases and disorders. The book has been well illustrated with number of coloured photographs which are an added attraction.
