About the author

Thangkhomang S. Gangte

Dr. Thangkhomang S. Gangte pioneered promotion of higher education among the tribals in the bribal areas of the state of Manipur after obtaining his Masterâ€™s Degree from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. While serving the backward tribal people of Manipur, he did his research work and obtained Ph.D. from Calcutta University. After serving for more than twenty three years as the founder-Principal of Churachandpur College, Churachandpur, Manipur, has was promoted to the post of Director of Education, in-charge of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur, the post he still holds. As a Fulbright scholar, Dr. Gangte traveled widely in USA, to study their higher education system. He has published articles in reputed academic journals and presented papers at national seminars.
