War History of Indian Army
The book deals with the organisation and functioning of the Indian army, the largest component of the Indian armed forces, and the battles it has engaged in since the colonial times. It focuses on the battles of the army of British India during World War I and operations of World War II, the Indo-Pakistan wars over the decades, the Indo-Chinese war of 1962 and the conflict in Kargil. It discusses the major operations of the army in wars and conflicts—the course of operations conducted and their results, its counter-insurgency operations within the country and the UN peacekeeping missions it has undertaken. It discusses its field formations, commands and corps in detail and the lessons that the army has learnt from the wars. It delves at length into points and areas of dispute between India and its neighbouring countries particularly Pakistan and China.
