Firepower, 2030
The volume discusses use of firepower and firepower technology bearing in mind the future scenario with reference to conflicts and strategic operations. It discusses the constituents of firepower, the ammunition which is the payload being the most important element of firepower. It argues that combinations of platforms with ammunition results in devastating firepower which results in victory for the forces. With specific reference to India, it examines use of firepower in land as well as air-land operations in counter-insurgency operations, air and sea operations for sea control or denial to other nations/powers, sea-air operations between opposing naval task forces, and operations involving the outer space possibly by the year 2030. In all these conflicts, the author, Major General P. K. Chakravorty, argues, victory would be attained by ensuring asymmetries of firepower.
