Principles of Mine Planning, Volume II: Enterprise Building
Ever since the book, “ Principles of Mine Planning” came in the year 2002 and the subsequent enlarged edition in 2007, there have been continuous worldwide appreciations for both the versions of the book largely because the book has been accepted as a companion book of the mining professionals. Along came the requests for additions that culminated in this latest version of the book, “ Principles of Mine Planning, Vol.2, Enterprise Building”.
In the years gone by, much has changed in all aspects of mining engineering but, for different reasons, the changes have not been captured in any book, since. Contrastingly, the importance of mining engineering in the economy has not been on the wane, rather increased at a healthy rate, albeit with temporary halts. Industry wise single small mining has gone out of favour ; consolidation and integration are increasingly being felt ; idle assets are being reworked with mergers and acquisitions ; leasing, contracting, mine-to-mill, accounting standards are being increasingly common ; and human resource management challenges are becoming more and more acute. All these and many more are being looked in a text book format with a view to have an enterprise building framework.
