Humanizing Science and Technology: Some Case Studies
The book is based on successful interventions implemented in India with powerful lessons for policy-makers, NGO’s and corporate firms. A range of theses have been covered in the book such as empowerment of women, sustainable livelihoods, sustainable health for all, corporate social responsibility and communities. The book draws insights from Gandhian philosophy which suggests that only human beings can create a society that is egalitarian, decentralised, peace loving, and progressive. There is a need to balance economic growth with social regeneration by involving the poor in the larger interests of the society; and to rearticulate technology to suit the aptitude and skills of the people. Only those cases have been included in this volume which have been successfully demonstrated in India and can be replicated elsewhere with appropriate contextual changes.
