Gender Violence in India: Perspective, Issues and Way Forward
The volume presents papers contributed at a national seminar on violence against women and children in India. The papers deal with nature of the violence and its impact, discussing causes, consequences and protection required against domestic violence. With specific reference to districts and states of India, they take up the issue of discrimination against women and girl children, human rights and crimes against children especially child trafficking. They view specifically the role of the khap panchayats in perpetration of violence. They look into approaches and strategies for combating violence against women, emphasising on the role of the civil society in preventing atrocities against women.
