Threats to India's Internal Security: Issues and Challenges
This book comes in an attempt to discuss issues relating to internal security and analyse policy aspects in this connection. The papers view various threats to internal security: Naxalism, proliferation of arms, ethnic conflicts, the fake currency threat, drug trafficking, communalism and terrorism. They scrutinise legislations to strengthen national security and the national security strategy as such. They emphasise the need for economic security, nuclear energy security, and food security in the country, viewing some of the problems in a broader context such a the food security concern in South Asia. Examining the working of the intelligence system in India in detail, they argue that non-traditional threats and non-military issues are increasingly gaining importance in the context of national security.
