Flora of Rajiv Gandhi National Park Karnataka
First comprehensive account of the Flora of Rajiv Gandhi National Park and forms a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve located in the Western Ghats, which is one of the Biodiversity hotspots and recently declared as natural world heritage site by UNESCO. Systematic account of 1339 species, 16 subspecies and 31 varieties belonging to 757 genera under 152 families of Angiosperms, besides 30 species of Pteridophytes and 3 species of Gymnosperms have also been treated. Six maps and about 129 color photographs in 16 photo plates are provided. 106 endemic plant species have been recorded. 19 new plant reports for Karnataka state; besides 124 species are new records to Mysore District and 115 species are new records to Kodagu [Coorg] district of Karnataka. Updated nomenclature of flowering plants along with synonyms relevant citations local names, detailed and taxonomic descriptions, phenology, ecological notes and nomenclatural notes are provided. This Flora will be useful to professional botanist, ecologists, environmentalists, forests, agriculturalists, economists, sociologists, industrialists, students and teachers of biology and the persons interested in vascular plants of Rajiv Gandhi National Park.
