The work is based on a study conducted among ward nurses in order to examine the activities of nurses and study their working environment. It profiles the personal and family life of nurses and deals with the occupational details of their life, especially the types of activities they engage in and associated hazards/risks and injuries. It analyses the psychological and physiological cost of nursing work. It includes a comparison of the nursing practice environments of a broad set of hospitals. It suggests suitable work schedule for nurses and strategies for nursing work so that their work performance can improve. It calls for the need to pay serious attention to the working environment of nurses, in order to provide them a safe working environment.
