Vaiyakaranabhusanasarah: Sankarivyakhyasametah
The Bhushanasara or Vaiyakarana-bhushanasara (17th century AD) is a popular work of Kaundabhatta on Sanskrit language. It is a commentary on the bhushana text of the same author, Bhushana itself being a commentary on the Vaiyakarana karika of Bhattojidikshita. The Bhushanasara is ranked next only to the Vakyapadiya of Bhartrhari. It discusses the meaning of root, tenses and moods, suffixes, cases, negative particle, number and the sphota in the Sanskrit language in the light of Mahabhashya and Vakyapadiya. It examines the views of other scholars as well.
This volume presents a complete and simple rendering of the Bhushanasara in English with relevant notes. The translation is close to the original text on the basis of available commentaries like Darpana and Shankari.
