Role of Kashmiri Women in Agriculture Development & Allied Fields
Based on field studies in Kashmir, the work throws light on the nature and extent of involvement of women in agriculture and allied activities in terms of operations and time spent in farming and their performance. It identifies the problems faced by the farm women and the efforts to address them including government initiatives in this regard. The findings of the detailed survey delve into the women’s knowledge of farming, their decision-making with respect to adoption of improved agricultural practices and implementation of crop technologies available. It discusses their role in specific activities relating to livestock, vegetable cultivation and marketing, and probes questions like to what extent the women are exposed to modern crop technology. It includes a critical review of the findings in past studies as well.
