Quality in Higher Education: Issues and Practices
The seminar papers consider various contemporary issues in higher education institutions and programmes. They emerge with the ideas, experiences and perspectives of experts on the present status and scenario in the future vis-à-vis sustaining quality in higher education institutions.
The presentations take up issues and themes like quality management, professional preparation of teachers, conceptual and operational concerns of quality higher edaucation, governance and reforms in higher education, internationalisation and privatisation of higher education and curriculum issues. A focus is on open and distance learning system in India, quality issues concerned with it including relevance of ISO 9000 to institutions, and the concept of participative learning that is being encouraged. Keeping in view contemporary concerns of environment and human rights, they explore the human values-higher education symbiosis and educating peace in higher education.
