Architectural Expressions: People, Time, Ideology
Since the inception of this program in 2007, a few recurring themes. and central to architecture have emerged, incitting interesting debates and generating mixed responses.
Some the persistent concerns have been with regard to the perceptible gap between theory and practice. Can a better dialogue be established between academic and professional world? What informs design? What is the source of expression and symbolism - tradition and craft or machine? How does history demonstrate turning points and patterens of departure in architecture? Are these discourses engaging in polemics and plurality?
Answers these concerns have oscillated between ambiguity and clarity. This Master's in Architecture program attempts to recognize and address these diverse issues. How does one articulate it? To what extent are the students able to debate divergent ideologies and present their views? Are these aspects addressed in studio projects? Are attempts made to dovetail theoretical positions and design decisions? There is no decided response to these queries. Efforts and debates for bettr understanding continue.
