Dr. Barun Kumar Chakravarti is a PH.D. from Calcutta University. he did his post graduate Diploma in Nutritional science from all India Institute of Hygiene and Public health. Later he did postgraduate Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management from university of Rajasthan and Diploma in Teacher’s Training from Bombay. Dr. Chakravarti was a recipient of a visitorship offered by the British Council and he extensively travelled and visited the various catering schools and research organization in U.K. He also visited France, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg and West Germany to study the catering pattern of those countries in 1979. Dr. Chalravarti was also deputed by the Govt. of Bihar to visit U.S.A., where he visited number of catering schools, catering departments of American universities including that of the Cornell University and Culinary Institute of America. He is the founder Principal of Food Craft Institute Patna which has been recently upgraded as Institute of Hotel management, catering technology and Applied Nutrition under national Council. Dr. Chakravarti has been engaged and associated in various social, academic and philanthrophic works in the state of Bihar and actively engaged in the promotion of Tourism in the State of Bihar. He is one of the Director of the Board of Directors of Bihar State Tourism development Corporation and is also a prolific writer and published several books and numerous research papers in Indian and Foreign Journals.
